Robert Downey Jr. makes emotional MTV Movie Awards speech

Robert Downey Jr. made an emotional speech as he picked up his gong for the MTV Generation Award at the MTV Movie awards in Los Angeles on Sunday

As he made his acceptance speech, Downey Jr. was surrounded by his Avengers Ensemble co-stars Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth who all got down on their knees to listen to his speech.

"In the 34 years that have passed since the birth of MTV, I've grown up, struggled, failed, succeeded, partied way too much, repented, begged for second chances and literally clawed my way to the top," the 50-year-old actor said.

I have tried to live honourably and never forget my love of the game or my friends.”

Gesturing to his famous co-stars he added: “If a man is judged by the company he keeps I must be doing something right because look who I’m rolling with. On behalf of my fellow Avengers I invite you to dream big, work hard, keep your noses clean, be of service and, because you can, define your generation.”
