Minions tops UK box office


Those yellow munchkins the Minions have topped the UK box office this week. After 10 days of the film's release the yellow scoundrels have raked in just over £20.97m in the UK.

Minions has already outperformed the lifetime total of the original movie, Despicable Me, which took £20.2m at the UK box office.


However, it's reign at the top could be curtailed by Pixar's forthcoming animated blockbuster, Inside Out.

But for now, Minions has already surpassed the lifetime totals of the animated box office hits Tangled (£20.5m), Kung Fu Panda (£20.3m) and Happy Feet (£19.2m).

With a debut of £3.79m, Terminator Genisys hasn't performed as well as its predecessors in the franchise. The top performing earner int he Terminator franchise is 2003's Terminator: Rise Of The Machines which took a total of £18.9m at the UK box office.
